The Regional Rice Farmer-Breeders Forum was successfully conducted last Oct. 21-22 at the MASIPAG Visayas Back-up Farm in San Dionisio, Iloilo. Veteran farmer-breeders such as Board Chairman Elpidio “Jojo” Paglumotan shared their experience in rice breeding among the participants who are being honed to become second-liner rice breeders. The rice breeders also showcased their farmer-bred lines that are stable and flourishing in their farms and in other farming communities.
As of 2019, 16 new crosses have been developed by farmer rice-breeders in Visayas. #
