MASIPAG (Magsasaka at Siyentipiko para sa Pag-unlad ng Agrikultura, Farmer-Scientist Partnership), is a nationwide network of farmers’ organizations, scientists and non-government organizations working to empower resource-poor Filipino farmers through their control of seeds and biological resources, agricultural production and technologies, and associated knowledge.

We are looking for an Information-Communication Staff reporting for the Asian People’s Exchange for Food Sovereignty and Agroecology (APEX) based or near Los Baños, Laguna. APEX is a regional is an exchange platform which aims to strengthen the capacities of people’s movements in Asia to help achieve Food Sovereignty through Agroecology, People-Led Development strategies and approaches, and Advocacy for pro-people policies.

The APEX Information-Communication Staff will have the following functions:

  • Design and implement an information and communication (infocom) plan in accordance with the objectives, activities and other deliverables of APEX (as well as with the overall infocom plan Masipag)
    • Report to and consult with the Coordinators – and as needed, to the Consultant – on specific tasking, cooperation, troubleshooting, strategizing, etc. and on the design and status of implementation of the infocom plan
    • Promote APEX as a platform for the advancement of food sovereignty and agroecology in the region
    • Ensure the production of information, outreach, advocacy or campaign materials such as statements, press releases, infographics, posters, videos, etc. that will serve the objectives of APEX
    • Oversee the APEX website, including the regular updating of its content and its promotion to the Consortium partners, networks, and the general public
    • Provide technical and/or logistical support to ensure the successful conduct of the regional meetings, consultations, workshops, trainings, etc., both online and face-to- face
    • Provide technical support to national APEX participant groups in carrying out their online meetings, consultations, etc. including training and assistance on using online meeting platforms, and other similar or related forms of support
    • Support the Coordinators and the Consultant in their regular consultations with the partners on the implementation of APEX activities
  • Ensure the satisfactory documentation, whether video or written, of the different activities of APEX
    • Ensure the quality and timely completion and submission to the concerned Coordinator or Consultant of the documentation of regional meetings, consultations, workshops, trainings, etc., whether online or face-to-face
    • Coordinate with the partners to ensure the documentation of the national activities of APEX including meetings, consultations, workshops, trainings, etc., whether online or face-to-face
    • Produce information, outreach, advocacy or campaign materials from the documentation of the national and regional meetings, consultations, workshops, trainings, etc., whether online or face-to-face
    • Provide technical support to national APEX participant groups in their documentation of activities and experiences including guidance on the use of hardware and facilitating skills development for video documentation, and other similar or related forms of support
  • Perform other relevant tasks that their respective Coordinators may assign

Minimum requirement include:

  • A university degree in any of the following: Development Communication, Communication Arts, Mass Communication, Media Studies or any related field.
  • Excellent in oral and written skills in English;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills;
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, MS Office
  • Advance skills in layout, design and video production through Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Exposure in the field of agriculture and regional (Asia) work is an advantage;
  • Based or near Los Baños, Laguna
