MASIPAG (Magsasaka at Siyentipiko para sa Pag-unlad ng Agrikultura, Farmer-Scientist Partnership), is a nationwide network of farmers’ organizations, scientists, and non-government organizations working to empower resource-poor Filipino farmers through their control of seeds and biological resources, agricultural production and technologies, and associated knowledge.

MASIPAG is looking for an Assistant Coordinator for its project entitled Asian Peoples Exchange for Food Sovereignty and Agroecology. APEX is an exchange platform which aims to strengthen the capacities of people’s movements in Asia to help achieve food sovereignty and promote agroecology thru people-led development (PLD) strategies and approaches and advocacy for policy reforms related to food and agriculture.

Role and responsibilities

  1. Assist the MASIPAG National Coordinator with other Consortium members for planning, implementation, troubleshooting, assessment and reporting of all APEX activities.
    • Attends regular and special meetings or consultations called by any member of the APEX Consortium as assigned by the MASIPAG National Coordinator
    • Provides support to other members of the Consortium for the successful implementation of APEX activities as assigned by the MASIPAG National Coordinator
    • With guidance from the MASIPAG National Coordinator and MASIPAG Team for APEX, works with the APEX Consortium members for the drafting, revision, finalization and timely submission of narrative and financial reports as required by the Donor
  1. Assist the MASIPAG Coordinator for the implementation and satisfactory accomplishment of the APEX Agroecology Track objectives and the planned activities, expected outputs and expected use of outputs 
    • Assist the MASIPAG Coordinator in overseeing the work of and coordinates with the MASIPAG Infocom Officer, MASIPAG Consultant and MASIPAG Team for APEX and ensures that tasks are carried out in a manner that is both adequate and on time 
    • Assist in the facilitation of orientation, further exchange of knowledge, skills and practices, unification and mobilization of concerned partners for APEX plans and actions through regular and special consultations and/or meetings
    • Regularly reports to the MASIPAG Coordinator and MASIPAG Team to ensure that all project deliverables are achieved within the planned timeline through close monitoring of implementation of activities and timely intervention whenever needed
    • In cooperation with the MASIPAG team, carries out network building in ways that will support the initiatives and address issues and concerns on agroecology as identified by participant groups at the regional and national levels
    • Assist the MASIPG Coordinator to ensure that all activities are carried out within the planned resource allocation
    • Prepares regular status reports on project implementation for submission and/or presentation to other Consortium members
    • Ensures that all activities and their implementation are carried out in accordance with MASIPAG’s policies and regulations and that of the Consortium
  1. Performs other relevant tasks that the MASIPAG National Coordinator may assign
